Hey there, fellow dreamers and innovators! Today, I want to take you on a thrilling journey through my experiences in designing credit cards for India’s most exceptional business personalities.
It all started with my very own nostalgic memories of unboxing my first ATM card — a simple PVC card with my name on it. Little did I know that this memory would ignite a passion for creating personalised, unique credit cards that would captivate the hearts of Indian entrepreneurs.
Discovering India’s Digital Payments Transformation:
As I immersed myself in the world of credit cards, I uncovered a fascinating trend in India’s digital payments landscape. Historically a debit card-loving nation, India had witnessed a significant shift towards credit card transactions.
The Quest for Unique Personalities:
Our research team led us to identify the top 4 personas who boasted both influence and a use our platform day to day basis. They researched the potential customers, identifying their characteristics, needs, and behaviours, and then grouping them into distinct target segments. Based on various criteria such as demographics, psychographics, geographic location, or even purchasing behaviours. Analysed the data and identify the most promising and profitable segments. Consider factors like market size, growth potential, competition, and alignment with our business objectives.
Based on the above data we have come-up with multiple ideas of card designs but some of them are not possible to implement it or it might not fit in our budget. Then we worked backwards, started designing the cards keeping the budget and with all the possible combinations of elements.
But we were determined not to offer them cookie-cutter designs. No, our goal was to create something that would speak directly to each persona’s soul. It was challenging, but the excitement of unlocking their unique characteristics kept us going.
Here are four personas that we identified: Influencers, E-commerce-D2C Brands, Unicorn Startups, MSME & SME.
The Colourful Palette of Nature:
Choosing the right colours for the credit cards was no small feat. We wanted to evoke emotions and create a connection with each user. Inspired by the beauty of nature, we decided to explore the psychological effects of colours. After all, nature always seems to have figured it out first! Nature’s hues offered the perfect guide, each one conveying a different feeling and energy.
Influencers: A Splash of Neon Green
The world of influencers inspired us to embrace the vivaciousness of neon green. This captivating colour symbolised energy, modernity, and innovation — traits that perfectly embody influencers. We wanted their journey to prosperity and impact to shine as brightly as their ideas.
E-commerce-D2C Brands: A Blend of Vibrant Tones
The D2C (Direct-to-Consumer) model is all about embracing transparency and authenticity. For this persona, consider using a card that incorporates a blend of Bright purple, transparency. We wanted to celebrate their dynamic presence and the thrill of online shopping, bringing a touch of excitement to their wallets.
Unicorn Startups: Embracing Opulence:
The elusive unicorn startups deserved a card design that exuded prestige and exclusivity.
We have two variants of cards Rose Gold & Black metal cards.
Gold accents, and the metallic effects adorned this metal card, capturing the essence of their remarkable success stories.
Black and silver symbolised growth, stability, and grounding — the very pillars of these businesses. Our cards were a tribute to their resilience and determination.
MSME & SME: Rooted in Rainbow Tones:
As we ventured into the world of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, we knew that trust and reliability were paramount. Rainbow colour symbolised growth, stability, and grounding — the very pillars of these businesses. Our cards were a tribute to their resilience and determination.
A Personal Touch for All:
In crafting each card, we ensured that every individual felt a sense of personalisation. Just like my first ATM card brought me joy, we wanted to evoke the same feeling in every user. Their name adorned each card, making it uniquely theirs.
While we wanted to create extraordinary designs, we were mindful of cost constraints. After all, our mission was to make these cards accessible to as many business personalities as possible. A balance between uniqueness and cost-effectiveness was the key, ensuring that these cards would become a prized possession for everyone.
